AEW Sammy Guevara has commented on losing to Chris Jericho at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.
At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Chris Jericho defeated Sammy Guevara in a match that had been four years in the making.
Following the bout, the two men shook hands and hugged before Guevara low blowed Jericho in a callback to his match against Shawn Michaels at WWE WrestleMania 19 in 2003.
To add insult to injury, Jericho’s former friend and tag team partner Don Callis came out to officially align himself with Guevara.
In his latest vlog recorded after AEW Grand Slam, Sammy Guevara shared his thoughts after the match. He said:
“I didn’t win the match today, and I know that some people are bummed. But you know, man, I’m winning. I’m winning at life.”
“I have a beautiful wife waiting for me at home. She’s carrying our daughter, who’s gonna be so beautiful. I’m living a dream. I have the life I always dreamed of. I used to dream of all this, and now I get to live it.”
“When I was a kid, I used to do Codebreakers in my backyard, and now I just wrestled that dude. Life is however you look at it. Life is whatever you perceive it to be.”
Sammy continued on to explain how he looks at his life, saying:
“I don’t feel like a loser. I feel like a winner. Like I said, I’ve been knocked down before, and I’ve gotten back up, and I will continue to do that. Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you.”
“The obstacles you face are just building you to be the person you need to be. So I didn’t win today.”
“That doesn’t mean I won’t win tomorrow, so we’re gonna keep trying, keep doing our thing, and we’re not gonna stop.”
“We’re gonna do this forever. So we’ll just find new things to get after I get the belt, but we’re gonna get that world title. That’s where my eyes are set.”
“Don’t be mad, be happy for me. I’m happy, and I can’t wait to get home and just be there. I think I have next week off, so I’m gonna relax.”
Sammy Guevara will team with Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay to face Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi in a trios match at AEW WrestleDream.
