AEW Rumors persist that CM Punk could be returning to WWE, but according to a new report, one top star had a savage response to the idea.
Dave Meltzer first reported earlier today that sources close to Punk said that he and WWE are “in talks” and his intention is to return to the company.
Nick Hausman for Haus of Wrestling also reported that a WWE source has said they feel it’s a “safe bet” Punk will be at Survivor Series in Chicago next month.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, one reason Punk could be more successful in WWE than in AEW is that similar antics simply wouldn’t fly.
The source who is noted as being a “top star” is quoted as saying:
“He wouldn’t be able to pull any of his s**t here.
“There’s nobody here he could jump without getting his ass handed to him.”
Elsewhere in the Fightful report it was discussed that there are two top stars CM Punk may need to ‘mend fences’ with in order to ensure a successful return to WWE.
