TNA Wrestling Departure Confirmed

TNA Wrestling Departure Confirmed TNA Wrestling

A veteran TNA Wrestling name has finished up with the company following the Final Resolution pay-per-view event (December 9).

According to Fightful’s Joel Pearl, after Final Resolution went off the air TNA Wrestling President Scott D’Amore made the announcement that ring announcer David Penzer would be departing the company.

D’Amore reportedly thanked Penzer for his service, shared stories and thanked him for his service to pro wrestling.

However, despite it potentially seeming to be the case, it was confirmed that Penzer’s TNA departure will not be his retirement from pro wrestling altogether.

Penzer’s resume dates back to the late 1980s and the Global Wrestling Alliance in South Florida, later working with WCW between 1993 and the company’s closure in 2001.

He would then begin his TNA career in 2006; working with the company in his initial run for four years before departing in 2010.

After a seven year absence, Penzer eventually returned to TNA in 2017 for a brief stint, before brought back in 2020 in a full-time capacity.

Penzer’s departure comes just shy of the company’s big rebrand in 2024, where they will be returning from IMPACT Wrestling to TNA Wrestling for the first time in six years TNA Hard to Kill on January 13.

Following the show Penzer would take to Twitter to thank everyone who gave him his IMPACT send-off, saying:

Wasn’t expecting that send off. Lots of things swirling in my mind.

Thanks for all the great comments. I’ll take a few days and make a statement on here.

Penzer’s departure comes just days after it was confirmed that a former champion will also soon be hitting the free agency market.
