WWE Cody Rhodes has commented on never facing off against CM Punk during their time together in AEW following their WWE interaction.
Cody Rhodes and CM Punk went face to face on WWE Raw this week ahead of the Royal Rumble event, which had a lot of people excited for a potential encounter between the two.
Cody and Punk went on to be the final two in the Royal Rumble match, with Cody eliminating Punk to win his second Royal Rumble match.
Cody and Punk were famously both a part of AEW in 2021 before Cody left the company in January 2022, with the two never interacting during their time in the company.
Following the show, Cody spoke at the press scrum, where he was asked about not facing off against Punk in AEW, and finally being able to do so now both are back in WWE.
He said:
“It’s funny that we meet back here. When we were at AEW, I thought we would encounter one another there and it didn’t happen. For whatever reason it didn’t happen. but I think both him and I had different personal experiences.”
