WWE A WWE star has been removed from their previously announced WrestleMania 40 match with a replacement being confirmed.
While there was a match announced featuring Rey Mysterio teaming with Dragon Lee to take on Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar at WrestleMania, it has now been changed.
In a backstage segment on SmackDown, Dragon Lee was found down after an attack from behind. Carlito, who was on the scene, immediately claimed that the perpetrator was Santos Escobar.
However, it was done in a way that made it relatively clear it was actually Carlito who turned on Dragon Lee, potentially out of jealousy because Rey had chosen him to be his partner instead of Carlito.
A match then took place between Legado Del Fantasma’s Elektra Lopez and the LWO’s Zelina Vega, with Lopez getting the win.
Santos Escobar raised the hand of Lopez with Dominik Mysterio and Andrade El Idolo at their side.
However, after Dom and Santos started attacking Rey Mysterio, Andrade would turn on Escobar and Dom and aligned himself with Rey.
Andrade embraced both Rey Mysterio and Zelina Vega to end the segment and made it clear that he would be subbing in for Dragon Lee at WrestleMania 40.
This was later confirmed in a backstage segment, in which Carlito once again seemed like he was pretending to not be mad that Rey had chosen Andrade instead of him.
So, to summarise, Carlito seemingly attacked Dragon Lee backstage thinking it would mean he could sub in at WrestleMania as Rey’s partner, but Rey actually chose Andrade to replace Lee, not Carlito.
