WWE/NJPW NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi has shared his feelings on the way that WWE is able to develop talent compared to Japan.
With multiple strands to the WWE’s development strategy that it has been refining over the decades, the company has a reputation for creating stars, refining already established wrestlers and attracting talent from sporting backgrounds.
Tanahashi made comments recently on Pivot Talk in a clip shared on Twitter, saying:
“I guess one thing that is helpful is that it’s open to both men and women, regardless of age.
“Also, the speed at which star wrestlers keep coming out, the speed of this turnover.
“This is again, a little bit different from the way it is done with Japanese promotions. Well, I do feel envious of that.”
NJPW have a working relationship with AEW that will see the Forbidden Door PPV take place for the third year in June 2024.
Having signed with WWE in September 2023, former TBS Champion Jade Cargill has reflected on her progression from her debut in AEW to her current work in WWE.
Former NJPW star Tama Tonga has recently joined WWE and revealed he had “no clue” about his television debut until the day of his arrival.
Current AEW star Jon Moxley has also recently revealed that he signed a New Japan contract before signing his AEW one following his WWE departure.
