Cody Rhodes Reflects On His Time In AEW

Cody Rhodes Reflects On His Time In AEW WWE

Following his win at WWE WrestleMania 40, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has reflected on his time in AEW.

At WWE WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to finally finish his story and win the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event.

On the May 17 edition of SmackDown, Rhodes made his return to Jacksonville, Florida, which is the birthplace of All Elite Wrestling. On the show, Cody took part in a contract signing for his upcoming title defense against Logan Paul.

Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Cody Rhodes was asked if he still keeps his eyes on AEW despite being WWE’s top star. He answered:

“I think I’ll always have an eye on it.

“Because it’s just not something you can abandon in your mind in a sense of, hey, me, Matt [Jackson], Nick [Jackson], Kenny [Omega], Tony [Khan], Brandi [Rhodes], Bernie [Cahill], Chris [Harrington], Dana [Massie] started this thing, especially if you were in those initial meetings.

“So I’ll always have an eye for it. I could never just pretend it’s not there anymore.”

In AEW, Rhodes worked as both a wrestler and an executive. He served as such until he left the promotion in 2022 and returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38.

Reflecting on his time in All Elite Wrestling, Cody said:

“I had said this before, I wouldn’t root against my former company. And I keep eyes on them. And I have a lot of really great memories, really more than anything.

“Sometimes things are just for a season in your life. That was a season in my life, and it was a really great season.”

Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against United States Champion Logan Paul this Saturday, May 25 at WWE King & Queen of the Ring.
