AEW Following MJF’s shocking Double Or Nothing return, a new report has revealed the latest on Adam Cole’s AEW return.
At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, former AEW World Champion MJF made his return to the company for the first time in five months to confront his former tag team partner Adam Cole.
After low blowing and laying out Cole, Maxwell Jacob Friedman cut an electric return promo and confirmed he had signed a new deal with All Elite Wrestling.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that there were plans for MJF and Adam Cole to wrestle in late 2023, and Cole was considered for a possible title victory.
However, Cole’s ankle injury at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in September 2023 set off a chain of events that are still felt today.
The report notes that a possible MJF vs. Adam Cole match is still far from a reality as Cole is not near an in-ring return.
All parties involved wanted a way to blow off the feud and turn off in the meantime until that can happen, which led to the return angle at AEW Double Or Nothing.
