AEW Following his long awaited return at Double Or Nothing, a new report has revealed the AEW contract status of MJF.
At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, former AEW World Champion MJF made his return for the first time since December 2023 to confront his former tag team partner Adam Cole.
After laying out Cole, MJF cut a return promo where he revealed that he signed a new contract and wasn’t leaving All Elite Wrestling.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that MJF agreed to a new deal with AEW at some point in 2022 following Double Or Nothing weekend.
The report notes that specifically when or the length of MJF’s deal isn’t known at the time of this writing.
At one point prior to the new deal being signed, Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s contract ran from mid-July 2019 until September 1, 2022.
His new (or newer) contract with AEW made MJF one of the company’s highest paid talent, on a multi-million dollar per year deal.
By this point, Friedman would have already worked 22 months past the point of his original agreement expiring.
The report also notes that it is still not known whether MJF agreed to a contract extension or a totally new deal that replaced the remaining time on the previous contract.
MJF was previously outspoken publicly and privately about wanting to be paid more based on what other wrestlers received who came into All Elite Wrestling back in 2022. After re-signing with the company, this issue was adequately rectified according to the report.
