WWE The shocking conclusion to WWE SmackDown (May 31) saw AJ Styles fool the world into believing he was set to hang up his boots for good.
Instead, he successfully lured Cody Rhodes into his trap and forced his way back into the Undisputed WWE Championship scene.
One less discussed point of this however, was the role that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson played, with the Good Brothers clearly knowing well and good what Styles’ plan was.
With The O.C. now clearly back on a united front it begs the question – who can Cody Rhodes turn to for help?
Let’s find out by running down five WWE stars who could join forces with Cody Rhodes in a new faction.
5. Shawn Spears
Starting with the unlikeliest pick of all on paper, The Chairman Shawn Spears is someone who couldn’t be further away from Rhodes’ radar on WWE TV right now.
Spears is currently on NXT providing a veteran presence to the brand and is perhaps unlikely to be coming up to main roster any time soon.
However, in real life Spears and Rhodes are about as close friends as you get, that’s well documented.
Despite knowing each other since their time in OVW in the mid 2000s, they wouldn’t work on TV together until their feud in AEW during the company’s debut year.
Although it really wouldn’t fit with Spears’ current creative direction, if Rhodes was picking anyone on the roster to have his back you’d imagine Spears wouldn’t be far from the top.
