A former WWE star has revealed the details behind how his recent AEW pay-per-view appearance came to be at Double or Nothing.
At AEW Double or Nothing 2024, the TNT Championship match featuring Adam Copeland against Malakai Black and featured a special appearance by former WWE star, Gangrel.
Speaking about how Copeland is a very creative and passionate person, he wanted to follow up on the past idea, Gangrel told Sportskeeda WrestleBinge:
“When he went over and he chose to start working with AEW, he still had that idea … he called me up and said, ‘Hey, these guys all thought it’d be really cool, what do you think about coming in and finishing up that idea and coming out at Double Or Nothing and helping me out and having a little reunion,’ and I said, ‘I would love to’
Gangrel made a surprise appearance from beneath the ring for a throwback to his old Brood partnership with Adam Copeland (then known as Edge) in WWE.
While Copeland had already take the leap from the top of the cage, he was committed to completing the story, with Gangrel also adding:
“… he told me there’s no way a broken leg was going to stop him from having that moment.”
Adam Copeland would retain the TNT Championship but ultimately be forced to relinquish it after announcing that he would require surgery on his broken tibia and is out of action without a specific date of return.
Copeland recently revealed that he underwent successful surgery.
Everyone at WrestleTalk continues to wish Adam Copeland all the best in his recovery process.
