Shinsuke Nakamura Shares Honest Thoughts On WWE Role & Future WWE

Shinsuke Nakamura has commented on his wrestling future, addressing his current role in WWE, and how it has changed over time.

Nakamura joined WWE in early 2016 as a hot signing. The former NJPW star hit the ground running, winning the NXT Championship twice in his WWE debut year, before winning the 2018 Royal Rumble match a couple of years later.

With Nakamura less-prominently featured on WWE TV nowadays, some fans have speculated that the Japanese star might want to leave WWE for to wrestle elsewhere, or hang up the boots for good.

Speaking with Aaron Bronsteter for SportsNet, Nakamura noted that he plans to stay with WWE, as he feels he still has a lot to accomplish in his current role.

When asked about his WWE role, Nakamura said:

“I’ve been wrestling (for WWE) over eight years right now. I want to keep wrestling for WWE to give the fans more dream matches. That’s what I want to do, I want to show my passion.

“Also, I brought the Japanese style to WWE but still I think I’m not accomplished. I’m still a challenger, I keep challenging.”

While he’s still active in dark matches and at house shows, Nakamura hasn’t competed in a televised bout since losing to Sheamus on the April 22 Raw episode.

Nakamura was in the corner of Rei Tsuruya for his UFC debut victory at Saturday’s (June 28) UFC 303 event.

A WWE star has asked Nakamura to be in his corner for an upcoming jiu jitsu competition, which you can read more about right here.
